Every fall, we receive fresh grapes from California. Once they arrive, we schedule our first get together for some hands-on wine-making.
Crushing is the process of separating the grapes from their stems, and breaking the skins to release the juices. Back in the old country, kids and adults would climb into tubs to crush the grapes with their feet.
At our Crushing event, we dump the crates of grapes into our Crusher. No one is going to step on these grapes – our machine destems and crushes the grapes in one step. There are several different size machines that people can use – from the portable to the full size.
Of course, when we are not crushing the grapes, there is plenty of time to socialize, eat and drink wine.
